COMPASSION
In the Gospel of Luke, we read that God’s “Mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty.” In the person of Jesus Christ, we find a revolutionary, a humanitarian, a Savior to the marginalized, broken and poor. Jesus is a very particular kind of Redeemer, and our church desires to be his hands and feet in our broken world. In the name of Jesus Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit, we pray and work for the good news (including release from bondage to sin and destructive patterns of life, freedom from grinding poverty and injustice, and the sustained and transformational experience of our Father’s love) to be made manifest among the poor, the fatherless, the widow, the foreigner, and the oppressed, from our surrounding communities. We seek the peace, wholeness, and welfare of our city, working to advance the kingdom of God in our midst. In order to serve and love our city well, we are committed to working with these organizations:
